Description: Construction of a new swimming pool and hardscape area for the YMCA. This project will consist of a new 2,850 SF swimming/lap pool and approximately 6,200 SF of hardscape area. The project will have decorative fencing, a separate enclosed pool equipment yard, and will tie into two other ongoing projects, both run by Block Construction (the YMCA and the BREC Gymnasium). All three projects are scheduled for a near simultaneous completion.

Project: BREC Howell Park Gymnasium

Architect: Chenevert ArchitectsDescription: This project consists of the construction of a 7,200 SF gymnasium and a 1,205 SF office, storage and restroom complex. This project will be constructed along side of another current Block Construction project that is ongoing, the YMCA of the Capital Area. These two facilities will conjoin and share a common grade beam and drilled shaft supports. The projects will be under construction simultaneously, while the BREC Gymnasium has a 330-day schedule, Block is striving for a nine month schedule with matching completion dates for the YMCA.
The structures foundation consist of 5” post tension slab supported by drilled shafts, ranging from 16” diameter to 36” diameter to depth of 12’ to 25’ deep. The steel structure is a metal building system with a stand and seam metal roofing system. The exterior skin of the building consists of CMU and corrugated metal wall panels. Two, five-ton packaged air units will climatize the facility. The gymnasium flooring will be a Mondo Advance 8mm rubber sports flooring.
