
Project: BREC Howell Park Gymnasium

Architect: Chenevert ArchitectsDescription: This project consists of the construction of a 7,200 SF gymnasium and a 1,205 SF office, storage and restroom complex. This project will be constructed along side of another current Block Construction project that is ongoing, the YMCA of the Capital Area. These two facilities will conjoin and share a common grade beam and drilled shaft supports. The projects will be under construction simultaneously, while the BREC Gymnasium has a 330-day schedule, Block is striving for a nine month schedule with matching completion dates for the YMCA.
The structures foundation consist of 5” post tension slab supported by drilled shafts, ranging from 16” diameter to 36” diameter to depth of 12’ to 25’ deep. The steel structure is a metal building system with a stand and seam metal roofing system. The exterior skin of the building consists of CMU and corrugated metal wall panels. Two, five-ton packaged air units will climatize the facility. The gymnasium flooring will be a Mondo Advance 8mm rubber sports flooring.

Description: This is the construction of a new 26,000 square foot family soccer facility. Scope of work consists of site preparation, building foundation with timber piles, ample limestone parking area, sidewalks and a Nucor pre-engineered metal building. Interior facilities offer an indoor soccer facility that is climate controlled, with a “Corner Kick Café” and a conference/party room.
